Project Profile: Bowles Elementary SchoolLibrary & Building Improvements Rockwood School District Fenton, Missouri
The Bowles Elementary School library has been renovated and enlarged to comply with current state guidelines providing space for two seated instructional areas within the newly expanded
library, space for the library staff, a/v storage and educational staff resources. A new window seat
and exterior door were added which improved natural lighting in the library and provided a visual
connection to an adjacent existing exterior courtyard space. Bright cheerful interior finishes were
used throughout the new library space, general office and all other renovated areas.
The existing general office was relocated to allow space for the expanded library which provided an opportunity to redesign the main entrance, update the building image and provide a new general
office suite with a staff work room, principal’s office, reception area and an adjacent nurse’s
office. The project also included renovation of other staff preparation and meeting room areas, classroom electrical power and data upgrades, and a new automatic fire suppression system
throughout the entire building.
The library contains approximately 2,400 Sq. t. of expanded and renovated area. The general office and entry addition contain pproximately 1,600 Sq. Ft. of expanded and enovated area. The counselor’s office, staff lounge and meeting room contain pproximately 1,000 sq. ft. of renovated area. he general office and entry expansion are uilt utilizing a structural steel frame, steel tuds and brick and composite stone masonry eneer.
